It’s been quite a while since I updated my blog, but I’m happy to say that I’ve still been working away in my absence!
A few months ago I set a personal project to redesign one of my favourite books. And today I finally finished my re-imagined/redesigned book cover for A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. Totalling 100 man hours of work, suffice to say I’m proud to say it’s finally finished, and that I learnt a lot in the process!
In my book cover I chose to depict Feyre, Tamlin, and Rhysand in a way to bring life to the characters in the book without giving away much of the story to those who haven’t read the first two books (as this is the third book in the series).
As I said in my previous blog post, I’ve been working full time over the past year and I’ve found it difficult to dedicate a substantial amount of time to drawing in my free time. But as of this week I am officially working part time at my job! This allowed me to finally dedicate the time to finishing this project, and now I can happily move onto the next one :)
Above is a brief summary of the process of the artwork - but what it doesn’t show is it all the research I needed to do in order to paint some things I don’t have much experience in painting, such as costumes, specific materials, and men!
I’m looking forward to having a little bit more free time to dedicate to making art :)
